Over 8 million downloads! Surely it’s the world record for single software product downloaded in a day no matter if Guinness recognizes it or not.

Yes, from here I can see how the world is going crazy about the latest version of Firefox: my blog traffic peaked yesterday nearly 10 times more than usual, and most of visitors were finding the Firebug version which works with Firefox 3. Half of Twitter messages to me were about to get Firefox 3 run properly and issues with incompatible add-ons.

It’s interesting to see stats on SpreadFirefox: Americans were most Firefox passionate who counted for over 2.5 million downloads; German, Japanese and English followed with 663,000, 403,000 and 295,000 downloads accordantly. Almost all countries in the world has joined the party except North Korea, Western Sahara and some islands near the North pole where I think there is no internet connection for (poor) people there!

Of course, a few people are not happy with the event (you know who :) ) when seeing market share of Firefox grew about 4 percent worldwide after Download Day, according to Net Applications’ statistics.

In my machine, Firefox 3 final was installed over the release candidate 2 with no problem because I’d already got all compatible add-ons. It’s working like charm now cutting half of memory consumption in comparison with Firefox 2 while both page rendering and JavaScript execution speeds are notably faster. Thank God and Mozilla!
